Elna Myburg

Elna Myburg was born into a musical family in South Africa, which began her own musical journey. Ms. Myburg’s parents were vocalists, and as she grew to love music and performance Ms. Myburg and her siblings accompanied her parents in their public performances. Ms. Myburg studied music in college and graduated with a master’s degree in musicology. Although being classically trained, Ms. Myburg’s interests took to jazz and electronic music. Ms. Myburg currently teaches in the Kingwood, TX area in which she teaches her students both music and composition. One of Ms. Myburg’s students won first place in composition in the Texas Music Teacher’s Association competition. In addition to teaching, Ms. Myburg composes and records music in her home, and some of her music was included in television and film.


Elna Myburg is actively engaged in the Kingwood community with both her students and fellow piano teachers. Ms. Myburg has her own website and is a member of the Humble Kingwood Teachers Association, which includes a diverse group of musicians and teachers. The association hosts piano musicales for students to encourage their active participation in music and public performances. To further demonstrate Ms. Myburg’s dedication to her community, she wrote and composed piano music devoted to Kingwood following Hurricane Harvey, in which Kingwood was significantly affected.
