Sara Costa starts to play piano at the age of 8 with her father who is an amateur organist. Her house was full of music. Sara was shy and insecure when she was little to go to the music school but her parents still signed her up with a music teacher who knows Sara could be a child prodigy in music. So from that moment, she prepared herself for the Conservatory and she became a student of G. Donizetti Conservatory in Bergamo. And this studied has lead Sara played a lot of Chamber Music and be able to perform all over Europe.
HOW DOES YOUR MUSIC CAREER USE YOUR SKILLS AND TALENTS? WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
I love Chamber Music and for me sharing music with other musicians on stage is something very special. The energy which is alive during a chamber music performance is magic for me. So in the past years, chamber music had a crucial role in my projects: in a particular piano duo with my husband, Fabiano Casanova. In 2019 or the first CD for piano four hands have been released for Da Vinci Classics and we won the Global Music Award in California as “Best Album” and “Best Duo”.
WHAT OBSTACLES HAVE YOU OVERCOME TO GET WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?
I feel grateful and lucky to be where I am. I’ve worked a lot, in complete dedication to music, both playing and teaching, and I think that probably I’m here because of my inner fire. I’m really a dreamer, but at the same time, I can be also pragmatic, so I’m ale to well organize myself most of the time. I also have precise goals in my life and I work towards them with strength. But the strange thing is that somehow I’m still that insecure little girl, so sometimes I’m not able to make decisions fast, without thinking many many days! But that’s also what I’ve learned from my mistakes: think more about situations and before trusting too much somebody or something.
HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR TIME OUTSIDE OF WORK?
I think that you have to be the energy you want to attract. So in this sense yoga for me is really important to feel connected to myself and to my inner energy. Meditation is also essential. I also love reading, in particular, psychological books, or classical literature and watching movies. I’m also a photography and design lover! I love staying in nature, feeling her power. I also like traveling, visiting cities or new places, exploring different cultures! I like to be in my solitude sometimes, and I feel good, but quality time with my family and friends is at the same time as important to me.
