I’m the Republic of Korea’s violinist! One of Beethoven’s works I chose is String Quartet No. 9 op.59-3. Count Razumovsky commissioned music from Beethoven, and Beethoven composed three string quartets. The last one of them, the first movement of this music, seems to express the tremendous energy and joy of the universe that I feel. And the 4th movement has tremendous skill and splendor.
I love Beethoven’s music. He composed the music constructively, but the melody is also so beautiful. The joy that vertical composition and horizontal melody meet cannot be expressed in words. And since he was the first to try to raise the musician to a higher position, I respect him even more. Anguish, pain, and joy coexist in his music. That is why I have a very reverent and sincere heart every time I play his music. I also want to face music seriously like him. I really respect him.
